THE BANK TOLD ME I NEED LETTERS TESTAMENTARY TO TRANSFER MONEY – WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

Letters/ Letters Testamentary / Letters of Administration is a legal document issued by the probate court that says you are the person entitled to handle the matters on behalf of the Estate. Whether you need to open an Estate with the Court and receive “Letters” or whether you need a small estate affidavit, depends on the amount of money and value of property that is being transferred.
